Engineering & Design

Northwind uses the latest version of AutoDesk 2D & Inventor 3D software to design all the equipment we manufacture. We have experience creating solutions for complex conveying systems and special packaging requirements, moving a wide array of products. We can provide solutions for mechanical, electrical, PLC, motion control, hydraulic and pneumatic system designs

Laser Processing

With over (12) years of laser processing experience, we are able to provide high edge quality and part geometry to our valued customers. All parts and products are handled and packaged in a manner to maintain the “as received surface condition”. All material received is inspected to assure proper thickness, material type, and condition. 

We can laser-cut stainless steel up to 3/8” thick, carbon steel up to ½” thick, and aluminum up to ¼” thick.

CNC Machining & Precision Cutting

Northwind's state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines are capable of producing complex parts for all industries. Northwind's experience extends beyond their beginnings in the poultry industry into various industries including Aerospace part machining. From free machining materials to superalloys, Northwind provides quality precision parts and assemblies as required by the most demanding customer.


If your parts require turning, 3-axis, 4-axis or 5 axis milling, EDM Sinker, or honing, all we require are CAD files to run through GibbsCam. Your parts will be machined to your specifications and requirements.

 

Northwind uses Lobo CNC router for precision cutting of conveyor components made from engineering plastics. The 5' by 10'  router table can cut UHMW, Delrin, Aluminum,  and other soft metals. Sheets up to 3" thick can be cut depending on material characteristics. 

Fabrication 

Our highly qualified staff have a broad array of fabrication experience; from food processing equipment to support structures, platforms, and fixtures for machining or assembly. 

Fabrication capabilities include: CNC press brake, precision band & cold sawing of structural shapes, bars, and tubes. Roll forming of sheet, tube, and bar. 

Welding capabilities include: TIG for Stainless Steel and Aluminium and MIG for Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium.

Millwright Services

Northwind's experienced Millwright Team works to customer specifications bringing the highest quality workmanship with the shortest downtime in the industry. Our team has diverse experience in poultry, beef, pork, and bakery plants. Northwind, Inc. installs stainless steel conveying systems and customer-provided equipment in all areas of the production facility working closely with OEM technicians.

Project management is crucial to the success of any installation. Northwind interfaces with the customer and OEM's to verify all specifications, including equipment requirements, lifting and handling procedures.

Northwind's fabrication skillset will meet and exceed even the most demanding project specification. Always on time, always guaranteed.

 EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE

Our highly qualified staff have a broad array of experience from food-grade equipment, ergonomic stands, platforms, wash stations, conveying systems, bagging systems, enclosures, lockers, cabinets, mixing and marinating tanks.

EXTENSIVE CAPABILITIES

Northwind's fabrication department can: • Laser cut Stainless Steel up to 1/2" thick and Carbon Steel up to 3/4" thick. • Precision band sawing and cold sawing of structural shapes, bars and tubes. • CNC press brake of sheet metal and plate. • Roll forming of sheet, tube and bar. • Welding processes include Tig and Mig on Aluminum, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel.

QUALITY MANUFACTURING, QUALITY STANDARDS

Northwind strives to meet the highest quality standards with quality checks throughout the manufacturing process. Drawings and schematics are provided to the machinist and fabricators for each part within the project for quick, accurate reference.
